What is qEEG?

A Neurofeedback (qEEG) is a cutting-edge diagnostic tool that measures the electrical activity of your brain in the form of brain wave patterns. This process, often called "Brain Mapping," provides a window into how the brain functions and communicates.

Brain waves are rhythmic electrical impulses generated by the billions of neurons in your brain. These patterns reveal critical insights into your brain's overall function, including stress levels, thought patterns, and emotions. A qEEG can detect brain wave patterns linked to conditions like concussions, PTSD, depression, anxiety, cognition, impulsivity, and other symptoms.

How qEEG Can Help You

A qEEG (Neurofeedback) is an incredibly useful tool in understanding how your brain works. It measures the electrical activity in your brain, showing whether certain areas are overactive, underactive, or not communicating well with each other. This information can be a game-changer for improving brain health. Here's how:

Challenge
Identifying Challenges:
qEEG helps pinpoint concussions, PTSD, depression, and memory functions.
Challenge
Improving Brain Function:
It highlights brain wave patterns that can be enhanced for better balance and functionality.
Challenge
Predicting Treatment Responses:
qEEG can indicate how your brain might respond to certain medications and supplements.
Challenge
Personalized Treatment Plans:
The data helps create tailored therapies, such as neurofeedback, to balance your brain's activity.
Challenge
Tracking Progress:
Regular qEEG scans monitor and will show you how your brain is improving with neurofeedback.
Challenge
Guiding Advanced Therapies:
Provides objective insights that we can provide to your doctor to assist with your healthcare.
This information is not only helpful for creating a baseline but also for tracking your progress over time.

With qEEG, we can develop precise solutions to help improve memory, focus, and attention while reducing depression and anxiety. Ultimately, it's about enhancing your overall brain health and performance.

Is qEEG Safe?

Yes, qEEG is FDA approved as being completely safe, noninvasive, and painless. The cap placed on your scalp has electrodes that work like a "read-only" device, simply picking up signals from your brain.

These electrodes do not affect or change your brain activity—they only show where brain wave activity is normal, underactive, or overactive.

5 Types of Brain Wave Patterns

Your brain is an incredible electromagnetic powerhouse, constantly using electricity and neurotransmitters to help you think, feel, and act. The roughly 100 billion neurons in your brain communicate through electrical signals, creating synchronized pulses known as brain waves. There are five main types of brain wave patterns, each linked to different mental and physical states:

Delta Waves

Delta Waves (1–4 Cycles Per Second)

The slowest brain waves
Mostly occur during deep sleep

Theta Waves

Theta Waves (5–7 Cycles Per Second)

Slower waves linked to daydreaming, relaxation, and twilight states

Alpha Waves

Alpha Waves (8–12 Cycles Per Second)

Associated with calm and relaxed states

Beta Waves

Beta Waves (13–24 Cycles Per Second)

Faster waves active during concentration and mental tasks

Beta Waves

Gamma Waves (25+ Cycles Per Second)

The fastest waves. Linked to heightened alertness, problem-solving, and active learning

These brain wave patterns are crucial in how you think, feel, and function daily. Understanding them can help unlock the secrets of your mental performance and overall brain health.

What to Expect During a qEEG

Getting a qEEG is a simple, painless process that takes about 20 minutes. Here's what happens:

expect 1

line

Preparation

You'll sit comfortably while a cap resembling a small helmet is gently placed on your head.

The cap has small electrodes built-in that pick up the electrical activity in your brain. These electrodes only "listen" to brain activity—they don't affect it in any way.

Recording Brain Activity

The electrodes are connected to a device that captures your brain signals, which are then sent to a computer for analysis.

The process involves two steps:

  • Sitting quietly for 10 minutes with your eyes open.
  • Sitting quietly for another 10 minutes with your eyes closed.

Brain Mapping

The computer creates color-coded brain maps based on your brain wave activity.

These maps help identify imbalances or irregular patterns that could be contributing to your symptoms.

With this detailed information, we can design a personalized plan to help balance your brain and address your specific symptoms.
